Annual Wage Review Decision 2012
Fair Work Australia today handed down its 2012 Annual Wage Review Decision, which can be summarised as follow:
- All Modern Award rates of pay are to be increased by 2.9%, effective from the first full pay
period commencing on or after Sunday 1 July 2012.
- This wage increase can be absorbed into any existing over award payments (check the
absorption clause in your Modern Awards - usually this is in clause 2.2 or there about).
- If you are transitioning rates of pay to the Modern Award, an employee’s new minimum
rate is his or her new Modern Award rate 'plus or minus' 40% of the transitional amount.
- Award free casual employees – the default casual loading will increase from 22% to
23%, effective from the first full pay period commencing on or after Sunday 1 July 2012.
