What are Overtime Rates?
Generally, overtime rates are special wage rates that are payable to an employee for:
- working more hours than the maximum allowed in a week; or
- working more hours than the maximum allowed in a day; or
- working hours that are outside of the normal span of hours.
For example, a Modern Award may establish the following special rates for all overtime work:
| First 3 hours of overtime |
150% |
| Thereafter |
200% |
