What is Industrial Action?

Industrial action is action related to the employment relationship which can be taken by either an employer or an employee (or a group of employees).  The action is connected to either a employment dispute or ongoing employment bargaining.  The most common forms of industrial action are:

  • Strikes or work stoppages
  • Bans of performing work
  • Delays in the performance of work
  • Refusing to attend for work or perform any work
